RE:New member introductions
Hi - My name is Judy and I live in Central VA.  Im compelled to join in this site and blog to help veterans in my area.  I know of the impact of combat fatigue, PTSD and traumatic brain injury to those who have served.  I have not served in the armed forces, but have known some who have.
I am interested in finding out about Veterans support groups in our area.  Does anyone have any resources or info. about support groups?  Thank you.

Hey Howdy
Hello Virginia Veteran Community!

This is Thea and I am Regional Coordinator for Region 5. It's nice to see the website up and running and I look forward to talking with others across the state about veteran issues!

Hello ,

My name is Vaughan and I am an OEF VI Vet. My service was with the 173rd Airborne Brigade & 82nd Airborne Division. I have moderate TBI & PTSD. I am in frequent contact with Ben Shaw in the charlottesville area. Currently I am dealing with the Army HRC concerning the Purple Heart.  I have navigated the VA C&P I am 90%, but am rated 100% Unemployable. My P&T exam is scheduled in March 2013. I have recently been succesful in using a little known piece of legislation in having my student loans discharged due to my disabilities.

Hi my name is Joe and I am currently still in the guard in Virginia. I have been in for 16 years and will likely be medically discharged in the next 18 months. I work for the DEPT of VET AFFAIRS at FT Pickett VA and help soldiers navigate through medical board processes and help make the transition smoother. I hope to help more soldiers through the Virginia Wounded Worrior Program soon. I used to work in Farmville and used to live in Lynhcburg and dont see any contact or face time with advertizments or anything accociated with VWWP. I believe there should be a huge push to get this info to these areas and get the VWWP a known acrynom in the community.
