Purple Heart awarded to SGT “Doc” Wilson under new Army guidelines for traumatic brain injuries
On July 5th, SGT Samuel “Doc” Wilson III was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in Iraq in 2005.
On July 5th, SGT Samuel “Doc” Wilson III was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in Iraq in 2005. The presentation was made by COL McGuire who was his Battalion Commander in Afghanistan. The ceremony was conducted at the Fredericksburg National Guard Armory with his family, friends and fellow veterans in attendance. Staff members of the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program were instrumental in assisting SGT Wilson obtain the award. Mr. Williams is a Wounded Warrior Peer Support Specialist with the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from Park University, a Masters of Arts Degree in Management from Regent University, and Graduate Certificates in Federal Mediation from George Mason University and Project Management from Villanova University, Mr. Williams completed a 24 year US Navy career as a member of the Navy Medicine Team with service in the Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom.
