Traumatic Brain Injuries
Every year, 28,000 Virginians sustain a brain injury. Among these, over 5,000 are hospitalized and more than 1,400 die. Today, there are nearly 190,000 people who are disabled as a result of a brain injury.
A TBI is an injury that happens in an instant and can result in a lifetime of physical, cognitive and behavioral challenges for an individual. Early and adequate access to care will greatly increase overall quality of life.
