Honoring local fallen Comrades with the VWWP Support Group

The VWWP support group meeting for the Fredericksburg area, was held at the War Memorial to place a wreath prior to Memorial Day. Placed on the War Memorial wall are names of local fallen comrades of every major war that were killed in action, from World War I to the current Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). Members of the support group honored local war heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice. Ten names on the wall and their short bios were read from some of the members of the VWWP support group:

Olive Ollie - Stafford, Virginia                                   WWI
George Crawford - Bowling Green, Virginia            WWII
Floyd Parker – Spotsylvania, Virginia                      Korean War
David Thompson – Falmouth, Virginia                     Vietnam War
Richard Yates – Quantico, Virginia                            Vietnam War
Christopher Weaver – Spotsylvania, Virginia            GWOT
Joshua Frazier – Spotsylvania, Virginia                    GWOT
Nicholas Mason – King George, Virginia                   GWOT
Dusty Perrot – Spotsylvania, Virginia                        GWOT
Thomas Robbins – Fredericksburg, Virginia              GWOT

Larry “Docrep” Repanshek read the short biography from the Vietnam era. Richard Yates of Quantico was a Navy Corpsman that served along with Larry during Vietnam.

Isaiah Schaffer read the biographies of Dusty Perrot and Josh Frazier, both of Spotsylvania. Isaiah spoke very highly of his two friends that he grew up with in Spotsylvania. Dan Arnott spoke of his friend and high school classmate, Nicholas Mason. “Nick and I were on the same wrestling team and ran track together at King George High School”.

One of the local charitable groups in the Fredericksburg area is The Some Gave All Foundation. Established in 2007 in memory of Army Sgt. Nicholas Conan Mason of King George and Marine Sgt. Joshua James Frazier of Spotsylvania.  Both men were killed in the line of duty in Iraq. The foundation honors these men and all others who have been wounded or killed in service to their country.
